Tattoo Aftercare

Dry Heal

**This method of healing is not the preferred method. There are however, instances where due to allergies or sensitivities to lotions, balms etc it is the only option. If possible, you should always wet heal or use a transparent wrap **

Your tattooist will cover your tsttoo with clear plastic wrap, so the tattoo can be viewed without the protective layer being removed.
Wash and Treat: After you remove the bandage, you will want to wash your tattoo.
Use lukewarm water and antibacterial soap to gently wash away any ointment and to completely clean
the area.
Do not use a face washer or anything abrasive. Your hand is your best tool in this case.
Then pat dry (do not rub) the area with a CLEAN towel or paper towel to get it completely dry.
Follow with a very light application of tattoo balm or similar tattoo cream.
Continue this procedure at least 3 times a day for 5-7 days or until your tattoo has healed.
Days 5-10 apply tattoo balm or similar tattoo cream at least 2 times a day.

After this, continue to keep the area clean and apply a moisturiser at least once a day
for days 11-21, to keep the skin soft.

You must keep your tattoo clean; however, long showers or baths must be avoided for 2 weeks.
Prolonged soaking can and will loosen scabs if any have formed, or will soak through the soft tissue and
cause your ink to flow down the drain. This includes Swimming in the Ocean or a Pool, Spas, and Saunas.
Short showers are best, under ten minutes if possible. Scabbing and Peeling:
After a few days, you will notice some peeling and possibly a little scabbing.
A little is sometimes normal and no need to panic. You will also start to itch, just like sunburn
when it begins to heal. The advice here is, don’t pick, and don’t scratch! If it is peeling, put tattoo balm
or similar tattoo cream on it. And if it is scabbing, just leave it alone.
Your tattoo is almost healed, and now is not the time to ruin it!

Protection from the sun: After your tattoo is healed, from now on, you will always want to protect it from the
sun’s ultraviolet rays. These can fade and damage a brilliant tattoo very fast. Before spending a lot of time in
excessive heat, protect your tattoo with a minimum 30SPF sun block. This will keep your tattoo vibrant for
many years, and it will continue to be a source of great pride.

Infection: In the event you believe your tattoo has become infected, you should seek medical assistance ASAP, to receive corrective treatment
